Healthcare
Batavian's have quick access to highly skilled medical practitioners in two conveniently located hospitals.
Delnor-Community Hospital, minutes north of Batavia on Randall Road, is part of Delnor-Community Health System. A modern, 118-bed medical facility, the hospital is a state-designated Level II Trauma Center. Its 24-hour emergency department is staffed by physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency medicine.
Comfortable, home-like, labor/delivery/ recovery suites are available in the hospital's NewLife Maternity Center, as are rooming in and mother/baby nursing. High risk newborns are cared for in a Level II nursery.
Parents can remain close to their children in Delnor-Community Hospital's Pediatric Department, with its pullout beds that give parents a place to sleep. To help assure patients' well being, the department's nurses are all certified in pediatric advanced life support.
Among the hospital's variety of services are same-day surgery, a cancer care program accredited by the American College of Surgeons, home health care, a warm water therapy pool, and a full range of rehabilitation programs. In addition, the hospital has such highly sophisticated diagnostic equipment as CT scans, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, angiography, and nuclear medicine.
The Provena Mercy Medical Center occupies a 160-acre campus a few miles south of Batavia in Aurora. The 356-bed, full-service hospital provides inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
With a staff of nearly 300 physicians in more than 36 medical specialties, Provena offers the widest possible range of health care services. Among its many services are cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, general surgery, gynecology, hematology laser surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, obstetrics, oncology, pediatrics, plastic surgery, sports medicine, and vascular surgery.
In radiological diagnostics, the hospital offers CT scanning, mammography, ultrasound, X-ray, digital subtraction angiography, peripheral vascular Doppler, magnetic resonance imaging, peripheral angiography, and vascular imaging.
Provena also provides a full range of behavioral health services for people of all ages.
Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center, located on Randall Road between Delnor-Community Hospital and Batavia, is a center for ambulatory surgery. It performs more than 375 different types of surgical procedures on an outpatient basis, saving from 20 to 50 percent over the cost of the inpatient surgery.
Several excellent nursing homes offering skilled nursing care are available in the Batavia area. Among these is The Holmstad, a high quality retirement community providing several levels of living from independent to assisted to skilled care nursing. Also in Batavia, and planning a large addition, is Heritage Woods.
