  • Part-Time Manager of Development and Fundraising

    NAMI KDK is currently seeking a Part-Time Manager of Development and Fundraising.  This role will execute fundraising campaigns, major gifts, and special events. They will lead grant administration process to ensure compliance, timely application submissions, and reporting deadlines. The position reports to the Executive Director and/or the Board President.

    POSITION SUMMARY: The National Alliance on Mental Illness serving Kane-South, DeKalb, and Kendall Counties is an affiliate of the largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI is seeking a Manager of Development and Fundraising; a vital role in the success of NAMI. This individual is responsible for the following tasks: 

     
    • Work with the Executive Director and members of the board to determine quarterly priorities and action plans for deepening existing donor relationships and pursuing new streams of funding.

    • Lead grant administration process to ensure compliance, timely application submission, and reporting deadlines.

    • Establish fundraising objectives for the organization, setting one year, five year, and longer-term goals.

    • Maintain a list of potential financial donors including corporations, foundations, and individuals.

    • Produce relevant and informative fundraising literature for distribution to previous donors and the public.

    • Assist in planning and managing special events.

    • Oversee the fundraising process and maintain records of receipts and disbursements of funds.

    • Plan fundraising events that effectively communicate the purposes of the organization.

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with donors, prospective donors, board members, volunteers, all representatives and supporters of NAMI KDK, local community members, organizations, businesses, partners, and vendors.

    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

     

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Lead fundraising and grant writing efforts

     
    • 2 years residing in and connecting with either Kane-South, DeKalb, or Kendall County

    • Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.

    • Strong working knowledge and understanding of nonprofit fundraising practices across multiple revenue streams.

    • High level of professionalism.

    • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.

    • Think strategically, manage outcomes, and bring creative solutions.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills.

    • Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving.

    • Passion and commitment to the mission of NAMI.  

    • Educational Experience: 2 years of demonstrated successful experience in funds development and donor cultivation.

     

    Compensation, Benefits and Application Procedure:

     

    This is a part-time, manager level position, 25 hours per week at $25.00 per hour. Two weeks paid vacation per year. It is a hybrid position, in the office and virtual work environment. Please send resume and letter of interest to saragray@namikdk.org.
